A year and a half after I get the DS Lite, they announce the DSi. The new handheld system that will play DS and DSi games. The DSi has TWO built-in cameras, SD Card support, a built in browser, etc etc.
Matt and Sarah have complained about this in the past. Nintendo releases something great, supports it for a year or so, then comes out with the next-best version. Where's the love, man?
Could you imagine if consoles did this? There'd be mass chaos as fanboys bitched and moaned about having to buy the next-best every two years. At least the life-cycle of consoles is five to six years. Not great, but better than two.

yeah, I'm more pissed than interested in the DSi... and I skipped the Lite.
What bugs me is that this is all shit they could have -- should have -- had from the beginning. Tiny cameras existed. SD cards existed. Mp3 players existed. Yes, it would have been more overhead for them, but they still could have sold the damn things at a profit.
The worst part about the DS to DS Lite switch was that they changed all of the little things like the power supply and headphone jacks, so were forced to buy all new accessories. Somehow I don't see the Lite to DSi transition being any different.
It bugs me that they can switch so easily between trying to innovate and reselling the same old thing.
I'm excited for this, i was gonna buy a lite, but now I'm gonna wait for the DSi. It's so sexy! The screen on my first gen DS is so dim and beat up . . . but then I collect everythin Nintendo . . . I still have my game boy color, and my GBA.
I still have all of my Gameboy stuff, too. And generally, I'm a collector of systems... but this pisses me off.
I can understand your situation, Nikki. You don't have the DSLite, so this is going to be good for you. But for me? I spent the extra money and got the Phantom Hourglass "collectors edition" DSLite. Grr... :(
oh man, I wanted that phantom hourglass lite in the worst way....
